The motif seen here in the passenger tunnel at Charlottenburg Station is based on historical maps and aerial photographs of Berlin. It shows an abstracted depiction of the rail line between Charlottenburg and Ostbahnhof in the time periods 1910, 1927, 1970 and today. The colours reflect those historically present in the station, from the „blue bands“ in the ticket hall to the red of the steel beams and the crimson of the bricks. The material that served as the basis for the motif was provided by the Landesarchiv Berlin.
